Click on the session titles below for registration information and details: 1. State CPS Training Contact Group Discussion Tuesday Afternoon in Portland Instead of rushing to catch a flight after the conference ends at 1:15pm on Tuesday, we encourage you to stay for the day and take the opportunity to truly experience Portland. Lifesavers has made arrangements with the following groups so that you may have the opportunity to take a hike, ride a bike, see the Columbia River Gorge, visit one of Portland’s famous gardens, or try your hand at cooking!! These excursions are in addition to your registration fee and are optional. Space is limited and a minimum number of people must register for an event in order for it to take place. State CPS Training Contact Group Discussion (Click here for participants list)
This session will enable State CPS Training Contacts (or their designee) to share ideas, challenges and solutions. We have two hours to discuss what is important to you! Among other topics, we will discuss staying in touch with technicians in your state, promoting recertification, building and supporting your instructor team and possible resources. Following this session there will be a six-hour instructor development course (from noon to 6 pm) hosted by Safe Kids Worldwide and NHTSA. If you plan to attend both sessions you must register for both. There is a very short ½ hour between sessions – for lunch there will be vendors open in the convention center. Oregon Convention Center, Room Oregon Ballroom 201
If you teach or do presentations and want to expand your knowledge and skills, spend the better part of the day before Lifesavers 2008 building your teaching, presentation and interview proficiency. In this six-hour block, three pre-selected volunteer instructors will demonstrate techniques taught by NHTSA’s Traffic Safety Institute Instructor-Facilitator Course representative. During the session we will all learn from their demonstrations. The audience will help evaluate the volunteers using an electronic evaluation tool. To volunteer as one of the three subjects submit your request to Lorrie Walker at lwalker@safekids.org. Include your name, certification number with expiration date, agency, address, phone and email contact information, and the level for which you want to volunteer at that time. Volunteer Criteria:
Safe Travel for All Children: Transporting Children with Special Health Care Needs This is a two-day enrichment course designed for Child Passenger Safety Technicians who are interested in expanding their knowledge on transporting children with special health care needs.
