City of Roses

Portland’s climate is ideal for growing roses and has numerous rose gardens, most prominently the International Rose Test Garden, earning it the nickname City of Roses.

Bottled Water

In an effort to cut down on waste, Lifesavers will be supplying water coolers throughout the meeting hallways and exhibit hall and providing handouts online to support the Oregon Convention Center (OCC) as a green facility.

Handouts

We will not be copying handouts from speakers; rather, we ask that all speakers send us their presentations so we can download them onto this website. You can then print out the handouts you are interested in and bring them to the conference.

Transportation To/From Airport

Portland International Airport serves the city of Portland.

Allow between 30 - 45 minutes to drive to/from downtown Portland and Portland International Airport.  The MAX light rail system can also take you from the airport to your hotel for only $2.05. Visit www.trimet.org for schedule and times. Taxicabs are approximately $25 one way.

Getting Around Portland

Portland's mass transit – buses, light rail and streetcars – are free in a 330-square-block area known as "Fareless Square.”  This ride-free zone includes the downtown hotel core and the Oregon Convention Center.

Green

Oregon is the only state in the USA to have passed a formal statewide sustainability act, making the practice of effective land and resource use public policy. The OCC is green in numerous ways in design and function. We ask that all attendees participate in the recycling programs by placing their debris in the appropriate container.

OCC’s Rain Garden

The Rain Garden is a man-made “waterfall” on the southwestern side of the Convention Center. The garden creates an opportunity for storm water to run off the roof to be absorbed by the soil in the landscape—thereby filtered of potential pollutants—before it is diverted to the storm sewers and eventually to Portland’s Willamette River.
